History from a farm to a holiday accommodation

Not far from the village center of Terenten, in 1942, there stood a small goat stable in the Winnebach Valley, surrounded by green meadows. This stable, known as the Stegerhof, passed around 1948 to Johann Unterpertinger and his wife Paula, née Mayr from the Marchner farm. They converted it into a residential building with a stable, laying the foundation for today’s farm life.

In 1976, their son Wilhelm Unterpertinger took on the challenge of modernizing the house once again. In addition to the residential building, a separate feed barn was built, providing space for dairy cows, pigs, and hens. Together with his wife Olga, née Unterkircher, he transformed the farm into a cozy home – not only for the livestock, but also for their three children.

Even back then, hospitality was an important part of Stegerhof: during the renovation, guest rooms were created in which visitors were always welcome. This tradition continues to this day, and anyone who enters the farm immediately feels the warm atmosphere that has characterized it across generations.

In 2022, the decision was finally made to pass the farm on to the next generation. It quickly became clear that the second-born son Manfred was perfectly suited and would enthusiastically take over the future of Stegerhof.

My Stegerhof today

Today, Stegerhof is a place where tradition and passion come together for me. In addition to my work as a young farmer, I have a great passion for Scottish Highland cattle. With their distinctive, fluffy coats and gentle nature, they immediately fascinated me. In 2022, the first two cattle, Mina and Soraja, moved in with us – and felt at home from day one. It quickly became clear that more Highland cattle would follow and enrich our farm life.

I also wanted to revive the hospitality business that was already run by my parents in the past. In 2025, two modern holiday apartments were built next to our private home. My partner Nadja takes loving care of our guests and ensures that every stay is as relaxing and comfortable as possible.

In the Highland Apartments, our guests can enjoy the peace and idyllic nature surrounding Stegerhof – a retreat in today’s often hectic world.

Whether it’s a walk through the meadows, watching the Highland cattle, or relaxing in the tastefully furnished holiday apartments anyone who comes here immediately feels the warmth and hospitality that have characterized this place for generations.

We look forward to welcoming you!
